Storage Common Questions
Q: How big are the containers?
The containers measure 5" x 8" on the ground and are 7" tall. Each container will typically accommodate an average room to a room and a half of household goods. The containers sit about 4 inches off the ground to insure that your belongings are safe and dry should the weather choose not to cooperate during the time you are loading.
Q: What are the containers made out of?
Our containers are made exclusively for Door to Stor and each one is made of pressure treated 3/4" plywood to provide a very stable and chemical free environment for which to store and transport your belongings. Each container is also covered with a highly durable, weather-resistant cover.
Q: Are the containers secure while on my property?
Absolutely! Each container door is constructed in such a way, that it will latch tightly closed in three different places. The middle latch has a place for you to put your own lock. No employee will EVER ask for the key or combination to your lock.
Q: Where will you place the containers?
The containers will be placed at your residence in a location that will be easiest for you to load and unload. They can be placed anywhere a car can be parked and of course most anywhere on private property.
Q: How do I keep items from shifting during transit?
Packing your containers is a simple task! Treat them just like you would a truck, minus the slippery metal ramp to navigate your way up and down. Remember that your containers are only 4" from the ground. Place your heavier items on the bottom and lighter items on the top. Fill in as much empty space as you can and UTILIZE PACKING SUPPLIES! Things like moving blankets and using the appropriate boxes are the single most important factors in a successful move. There are 2 metal "O" rings on each of the sides of the containers for you to use as tie downs to secure items that may shift otherwise.
Q: How much will this cost?
At Door to Stor we offer competitive rates based on your exact needs. To expedite your quote feel free to either submit a quote request for storage or call us at 604-835-2292.
Q: How long do I have to load my container(s)?
We want customers to be able to load goods into their containers on their own timeline, not ours. At Door to Stor we allow our customers anywhere from 1-7 days to load and unload their container(s). While on your property, the container(s) will have a weatherproof cover to keep out moisture and ensure the safety of your goods.
Q: Does Door to Stor load the container for me?
We at Door to Stor cannot load your container(s); however, in all of our markets we have referral partnerships set up with trusted local companies who will load your container for you.
Q: Where do the containers sit when I am loading them?
Door to Stor containers can fit almost anywhere. We have vast experience in placing containers in limited parking and access areas. Generally, we can fit two containers in one standard parking spot. While we prefer to place the containers on your property, in some cases we can help you obtain permits needed to place them on public property.
Q: How do I know how many containers I will need?
Our expert storage consultants will be more than happy to assist you in estimating the number of containers your will need. If you end up getting more than you need, we will be more than happy to pick up the unused container(s) and credit you back the full cost.
Q: How does payment work?
Simple. Making a reservation is absolutely free. 24 to 48 hours prior to the delivery date of your empty containers, we will collect, via credit card, a deposit for the move. The rest of the move cost will be collected after you have determined the number of containers you have filled and wish to be stored. If you need additional storage, we can charge you automatically once you reach the destination storage location.
Q: How is it different from traditional garage style storage?
With containerized storage you do not have the same worries associated with traditional storage. Our containers are made of wood which allows everything to breathe. In addition we store them in a large indoor facility which makes for the perfect environment for storing household goods, electronics and documents. At Door to Stor we have never had a warehouse break-in in the eight year history of our company.
Q: Can I access my containers?
Yes. We understand that sometimes you put stuff in storage that you may need to access, therefore we offer free access to our customers. Simply call us two hours in advance and we will get everything set up for you.
